Jan 30 / Minnesota Web Design Is Both Hot & Cool: Corporate Mechanical

by Aaron Weiche

Our latest web design project to be released is for commercial HVAC and mechanical contractor Corporate Mechanical of Minnesota.  Serving the heating, cooling and mechanical needs of the Minneapolis area, Corporate Mechanical asked Five to heat up their web presence with a cool new web design and improvements to other areas online.

For the project we took up the creative task of a new web design and flash element to the home page.  Corporate’s old website was all in Flash and while they liked some of the effect, they disliked the lack of search engine traffic and the inability to update the site.  In building out the new web design on the SMC, they now have full control of their website.

The redesign also gave them a chance to add and strengthen their content on HVAC services, Equipment leasing program and take online service requests.

Some of the web design project highlights:

  • Custom web design
  • Flash design element
  • Built on our CMS, the SMC
  • Drop down navigation
  • On-page search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Email marketing design & set-up

We’re proud to have Corporate Mechanical as one of our clients.  If your not exactly comfortable in your office as you read this, you might want to give the Corporate Mechanical crew a call!

Jan 20 / Our Internet Marketing Seminar Was A Success

by Aaron Weiche

On Tuesday, January 20th I had the opportunity to present a 3 hour Internet Marketing seminar on Search Engine Optimization and Email Marketing to a great group of attendees in Buffalo, Minnesota. Here is a short summary video with some of the slides (77 slides in total!), photos from the event and a video clip.

Internet Marketing Seminar – Five Technology from Five Technology on Vimeo.

The majority of the seminar was focused on the basics of SEO and the concept of building trust within your website and it’s content/pages. We covered a lot of ground, answered many questions and even reviewed some of the attendee’s websites to offer up suggestions.

I personally had a blast with everyone and learned a lot in preparing a 3 hour seminar and presenting it. I think that everyone there walked away with some great takeaways and tips no matter their level of understanding coming in. I met a lot of really cool people too. Thanks everyone!

Jan 13 / A Bit of Web Design Recognition Feels Good

by Aaron Weiche

It’s no secret the passion we have for the web and design. It’s a good feeling when our clients compliment our work, but we also enjoy when our web designs make the pages of the various CSS & web design gallery sites.

Our latest project release, a website redesign for Buffalo Chamber made the cut and has appeared this week on a few different gallery sites.  It’s fun and flattering to have our screenshot appear along side plenty of other great designs and creative interfaces.

Jan 09 / Local Web Design Goodness: Buffalo Chamber Website Redesign

by Aaron Weiche

This past month we had the opportunity to complete a website redesign for the Buffalo, MN Chamber of Commerce. It’s a project I enjoyed for the fact I grew up in Buffalo, moved back 4 years ago and have worked with them on and off for the past 6 years.  The Chamber has been on our content management tool, the SMC, for over 5 years but the site’s design was about 7 years old and in need of a serious redesign.

Web Redesign Needs
Visually we wanted the site to feel more vibrant and alive with ample places for photos.  Buffalo is positioned between two beautiful lakes with the downtown right next to Buffalo Lake, so the ability to show off the setting was a must.

We have also built in photo galleries that the chamber will be adding to in the future allowing them to better recap community and chamber events.

Usability wise, we aimed to improve the navigation a bit and utilized drop down navigation for their future expansion and content additions.

Share The News With WordPress & RSS
The website is most frequently updated with news items and upcoming area events on the home page.  We integrated WordPress into the site so that the news updates would be archived and extremely SEO friendly.  In the near future we will be adding RSS and email subscription abilities for site users to be notified as news hist the website.

+ Check out the new Buffalo Chamber website and let us know what you think of it!

Jan 07 / Creative Web Design Energy: Energy Cost Cutters

by Aaron Weiche

Our latest web design project and the first to hit the web for 2009 is Energy Cost Cutters. A start-up company in Minneapolis, Energy Cost Cutters came to Five Technology needing to get a basic website rolling as they started their commercial energy audit and reduction services.

Energy Cost Cutters web design

The web design project included the interface design, build-out on the SMC for content management, an interactive form for the Energy Audit requests and we even went outside our comfort zone and designed their logo. The design is clean but flows with energy in the color scheme.

Our staff enjoyed working with the Energy Cost Cutters team on this project and appreciated the fact that they didn’t try to reduce our creative energy. :) We look forward to our relationship with them.
