It’s no lie that creating and posting blogs on your website is a great way to engage with your audience and frequent visitors. However, do you know what it takes to make an effective blog post? Neil Patel, Co-Founder of KISSmetrics, tells us that from your blog, you can send out a voice that effectively engages your audience. From your unique voice to even the design of your blog, there are many factors that affect how well your blog post will do. Patel gives us six elements to consider in order to create a powerful blog post.
According to Patel, blog posts that have images or graphics get 94% more views. Photos are a great way to break up the text and give the reader a visual photo to rest there brains from reading too much at one time. Also, Patel says that 60% of consumers are more likely to consider or contact a business when an image shows up in local search results.
According to Patel, a clean website design along with a clean layout is the perfect way for readers to be able to absorb your content. Patel also suggests that your website should be optimized for all Internet devices (e.g. desktop, tablet, mobile).
Patel suggests that when writing blog posts, speak conversationally, as if you are directly speaking to the reader. Also, use simple words and cut out the fluff. The fluff and complicated terms will only confuse and frustrate your readers. Also, Patel recommends sharing your unique perspective on the certain subject matter you are discussing. Utilize your expertise on a topic and let that shine through your writing.
The best way to publish your blogs is to send it out via your social media channels. Connecting your blog to multiple social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn can greatly increase traffic to your website and is great for your social media marketing.
According to Patel, 12 million people blog via social media networks. One of the benefits of blogging is that it creates a conversation, rather than a one-way monologue, so readers are able to be apart o the conversation and give their input. As readers a question to engage them with the blog, show you value their opinions.
With your blog posts, create a call-to-action for your readers. You can implement this with a sign up for your newsletter, special offers, or to watch a presentation. If your visitors are satisfied with your posts, they should be intrigued to follow you on a regular basis and better connect with your company.
The last element Patel offers for a great blog post is to speak your mind, be controversial. According to Patel, controversial posts tend to get a lot more links from people refuting your information. These type of posts also draw emotion from your readers and creates better engagement and chances to give feedback and opinions.
Patel suggests that if you’re going to start with one step of this process, first begin with setting your tone/voice. As a blogger, this may be one of the most essential components. It can take months to perfect your blog posts with all the right elements.
